Not only that they also own the shops, restaurant, car park etc whereas before profit from those went back to the hospital.
Now we are tied for many years paying millions in rent, and as some hospitals have found they carry on paying that even if they move or close.

And all of this was done by Labour with the camouflage of 'we are investing in the NHS'. While DNA and RNA analysis will prove useful in reducing medical costs and take the guess work out of prescribing drugs, there is the danger of DNA profiles being used in the nefarious new world order conspiracy for domination and control.Moshe Sharonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13390504237263926956noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25200961.post-14205858322419573262011-03-12T05:47:35.729+00:002011-03-12T05:47:35.729+00:00For some reason this important comment from a comm...For some reason this important comment from a commissioner in social care appeared in Dr Grumble's mail but not on the blog:

The endless flag waving for the mirage of 'choice' is misleading. Only the well off will in reality have choice. My mother attends her local hospital for several eye problems. The doctors, once she gets to see them, are great, it is the booking system and physical surroundings that are awful such that she dreads going. A frail 86 year old she has to sit on a hard chair for hours having struggled up an ill lit stairway through a children's play area. She is lucky - she can choose to go to another hospital 5 miles away because my sisster will take her - mind you she had to suffer years of the first place before my sister discovered she could go elsewhere. Someone without a savvy, early retired daughter with a car might not have the choice.
ALL NHS facilities and services should be of a satisfactory standard, not leaving people to make 'choices' based on inadequate information, their ability to interpret it and straightforward luck.

As a commissioner in social care I want to print this article and post on the wall at work It expressses how I feel better than I ever could. "Commissioning is not shopping" how true. We are forced to put tiny service contracts sometimes for only a few thousand a year, held by local voluntary organisations who provide an incredibly good value and efficient service, out to tender, placing whole organisations at risk of closure every year or so as critical funding comes up for re-tendering with the risk that someone else will score a few points more on a tendering exercise. It is in nobody's interests that this happens, it is highly expensive in bureaucratic terms, saves no money and is the equivalent of pulling a tree up every couple of years to see if the roots are growing. My colleagues and I are all hugely demoralised as we are forced to administer this system which we know serves little useful purpose.Dr Grumblehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04417731064007601504noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25200961.post-4314834767636000032011-03-11T23:30:26.444+00:002011-03-11T23:30:26.444+00:00As a potential hospital patient or maybe nursing h...As a potential hospital patient or maybe nursing home resident, I would prefer my treatment to be determined by my GP rather than an unqualified administrator who is merely concerned with costs.
On the other hand, it seems that the doctor is to "commission" care for his patients, but is unclear to me whether this is for his patients in general or on a per patient basis. I thought patients were to be given more choice, but what happens if my GP has commissioned hospital "X" to treat his patients, and I would rather go to hospital "Y" ?
When my wife had heart surgery, she had no choice but to go to Hammersmith Hospital because that was the hospital used by our NHS trust for heart operations although she would have preferred to go to Harefield which does similar operations, if only on the grounds of convenience.
So is there going to be any difference from the patient's point of view if the doctor does the commissioning? Is there going to be any cost saving? If not, why change?English Pensionerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15271488641341955140noreply@blogger.com
